Want to see what semi-gloss polyurethane looks like on a wood burned sign? Keep reading!

I’ve already written a whole post on how to seal wood burning art, so if you’d like a tutorial on sealing your work, check out that post for more information.

I’m always in awe when I seal my work because it’s just so cool to see it pop with the sealant.

Anyway, I thought in this post I’d share some before and after photos of the Minwax semi-gloss polyurethane in case you’re interested in using it for your work.

Minwax Semi-Gloss Polyurethane

I’ve used a bunch of Minwax products, along with several of their polyurethanes. They come in different finishes, such as gloss, semi-gloss, satin, clear, etc.

Usually, my go-to polyurethane is warm satin, but I decided to use the semi-gloss for this project and it came out beautifully.

After sealing

Here is the before and after! I personally love how everything pops when it’s sealed. If you don’t want the color to change, then polycrylic is a great choice. But I love the warmth and boldness the polyurethane brings out in the wood after sealing. 🙂

The gloss is very subtle as this is semi-gloss which I really like. Definitely doesn’t look like resin or anything but it’s a truly beautiful finish!
