Today I’m showing off my new watercolor palette!

I recently shared that I was making a new watercolor palette to fit my needs after using sets with the colors already picked for years. Though I can create just fine with a regular palette with basic colors, I knew it was time for a custom-curated palette of my chosen colors.
In this post, I am sharing the colors I have selected for my palette, my beautiful palette tray, and more!

The Palette
Okay, so it took me FOREVER to find an empty palette. I chose this HUGE palette because I knew I wanted a lot of colors, so I wanted the space and a large mixing area. You can also use the lid for a mixing space!
This palette being large is both a pro and con to me. A pro because I can fit a ton of colors on it and have a huge mixing space, but a con is that I have a tiny desk and studio.
When I unboxed it, I immediately thought maybe it was too big…. but I’ll make it work. I also think future me will appreciate it since I definitely will have a bigger studio one day.
Another thing with the lid is that it goes on top of the palette. There are so many watercolor palettes that fold into each other and it’s likely colors may get mixed or bleed into each other.
Overall, I really like this palette and recommend it if you have the room. You can shop this palette on Dick Blick’s website.
The Colors
Now, I know you don’t need many colors to paint. You just need primary colors, some neutrals to save headaches, and convenience colors for fun and well convenience. But I had a hard time choosing because I wanted them all lol. Daniel Smith has some really gorgeous unique colors.
Below are all the colors I chose for my palette:
- Buff Titanium
- Hansa Yellow Medium
- Aussie Red Gold
- Pyrrol Scarlet
- Opera Pink
- Quinacridone Rose
- Quinacridone Magenta
- Rose of Ultramarine
- Imperial Purple
- Moonglow
- Indigo
- Ultramarine Blue
- Prussian Blue
- Cerulean Blue
- Phthalo Turquoise
- Lunar Blue
- Phthalo Green (Blue Shade)
- Cascade Green
- Jadeite Genuine
- Sap Green
- Green Apatite Genuine
- Undersea Green
- Nickel Azo Yellow
- Goethite (Brown Ochre)
- Indian Red
- Quinacridone Gold
- Burnt Sienna
- Burnt Umber
- Raw Umber
- Payne’s Gray
- Lunar Black
This is A LOT of colors but I wanted to try all of these out. Once I start painting with this palette I’ll probably know within a few months if there are any colors I don’t like, don’t need, don’t use enough, etc.

So far I absolutely love Moonglow and Lunar Blue, two very unique colors offered by Daniel Smith. I’m also obsessed with the moon so I obviously love the names of these colors. 🙂
Rose of Ultramarine and Green Apatite Genuine are some other stunning colors. At the end of the day, I love each color for various reasons!
