Happy Winter Solstice!
Today I decided to make a mini watercolor painting (5×7″) in honor of the winter solstice.
I was feeling inspired so I broke out my paints during my son’s nap. I wasn’t sure what I was going to create, but was thinking of some sort of cold wintery landscape, inspired by the solstice obviously. š
Colors used: Ultramarine Blue, Prussian Blue, Indigo, and Paynes Grey.

My watercolor brand of choice is Daniel Smith, check out my custom palette here if you’re interested.
I also used white gouache and a white gel pen at the end for a few details.

Materials used:
Watercolor paint
Salt
White Gel Pen
I love the way this painting came out. It was 100% intuitive and I just went with the flow.
I’ve realized it’s obvious that texture is a huge part of my work. Using a salt watercolor technique is a must for me and I use it in every painting I do. š
This painting is available as an art print and notecard. Check them out in my shop!
Thanks for reading. š
