I have been wood burning for a very long time now. Probably almost 10 years.
It was my favorite medium for a long time, but I’ve been slowly distancing myself from it over the past few years.
Wood burning art is SO time-consuming; many don’t realize how much goes into it. Since becoming a mom, it’s hard for me to sit down and work on a piece when it takes hours to make a dent in it. I feel like I get nothing done if I finish maybe one piece a week.

I would much rather paint with watercolors and whip out a few mini paintings a day. It just makes me happier.
I recently tried to start another wood-burning piece, and after just one month, with it barely being 50% done, I decided to step away from wood burning until further notice. It was obvious that I was trying to force myself to work on it when I really didn’t want to,

My business essentially started because of wood burning art, so I am forever grateful for it because it helped build everything I have now.
I have written numerous blog posts about pyrography art and have shipped my original pieces all over the country.

Right now in my life, I am focusing on other things and just don’t have the time and ambition for it.
So RIP to my wood burning art for now. It won’t be forever, but it’s what I need to do for myself right now.
Thanks for reading,
Amanda
