I recently introduced crayons and coloring to my 10-month-old.

10 months is pretty early for this, and most people recommend introducing coloring to kids 1+ plus, but as an artist, I couldn’t resist!

I think there’s nothing wrong with introducing coloring around 10 months old. When they get their pincer grasp it’s great practice to grab a crayon and hold it.

He currently loves throwing the crayons and whipping the coloring book around but that’s okay. I show him how to hold the crayon and color in the book and he enjoys watching me. So it’s a start!

The crayons and coloring books all say 1+ but I watch him closely when playing with the crayons. As I mentioned at this point he’s really just watching me color or chucking crayons across the room.

After some research, I decided to get some of these jumbo beeswax crayons. They are highly rated online and are completely natural and safe for your little ones.

They also smell AMAZING. They’re easy for my baby to pick up as well. You can see how large they are in the photos below of me holding them.

They also have great pigment for being natural. Another plus is they are holding up perfectly from being tossed around. I highly recommend these and I think they are worth the money! It eases my mind knowing they are 100% safe.

I can’t wait for this next chapter of creating art with my kiddo.
