Today I want to share a super simple DIY Valentine’s Day wood burning project!
This DIY project is great for any skill level and is easy to make.
Valentine’s Day is all about love, hearts, romance, etc, so creating wood burned heart coasters is a great project in honor of the holiday. As I mentioned, this is an easy project and there is no wrong way to create them. It’s a whimsical project and the hearts can be any shape.

You can use these wood burned heart coasters as decor for Valentine’s Day or give them as a gift!
To create this DIY Valentine’s wood burning project, you will need coasters, a wood burner, and a finish of your choice.
Step 1- Start drawing hearts with your wood burner on the wood slice

When I created these heart coasters, I did not sketch out the hearts beforehand, I just went for it. It adds to the charm of the overall piece, so start drawing hearts and see what comes out of it! I tried to make some different heart shapes to create some variety.
Step 2- Keep wood burning hearts until you feel the piece is done

This is your call because everyone’s project will look different. Keep drawing hearts until you are satisfied with the finished piece. I can’t tell you how many to create or when to stop, so do what your heart desires! 🙂
Remember don’t worry too much about creating perfect hearts! It will all come together in the end.

Step 3- Seal your wood with a finish

This is especially important if you are creating coasters, but if you aren’t going to use your finished piece as a coaster, this step is up to you. I always like to finish my wood burning art with a sealant to protect it.
Polyurethane is one of my favorite sealants for wood burning art, but if you like a crystal-clear finish, Polycrylic is also great!
I have a step-by-step blog post on how to seal wood burning art here.
Step 4- Done!
After you have wood burned your heart design, sealed and dried your work if desired, you are done! These heart coasters are super cute and can be used any time of year, not just for Valentine’s season.
This is also an easy DIY wood burning project to get your feet wet with wood burning.
