Spooky season is among us, so it’s time for some fun Halloween crafts! This DIY clay ghost footprint craft is easy to make and will make a great keepsake.

To make a clay ghost with your little ones, you can use a hand or foot. I wanted to use my 11-month-old’s hand to make these cute clay ghost ornaments, but he refused to put his hand out and was more interested in grabbing the clay haha.
It was easier to use his foot so this Halloween craft turned into a ghost footprint project. š
Whether you have a baby or toddler or young school-age child, I think this ghost craft is fun and most kids will enjoy it.
I made this project using Crayola Air Dry Clay, but you could also use DIY salt dough for this Halloween craft.
Let’s get right into it!

Materials:
Clay of choice (I’m using Crayola)
Rolling pin
White paint
Sharpie or other paint for details
Ribbon of choice
Step 1- Roll Out Clay

Roll out your clay with a rolling pin. It helps if you dampen the clay with water so it’s easier to smooth out.
Step 2- Place Foot/Hand Down Onto Clay
The hardest part of this craft LOL – place your childs foot/hand down into the clay. You’ll want to press firmly so it makes a nice impression.

Step 3- Cut, Smooth Edges, & Make A Hole

After the impression is in the clay, cut out around the hand/foot so there isn’t extra clay around it. I sprayed some water to help smooth out the rough edges.

After that use a pencil or whatever you have lying around to make a hole at the top for the ribbon.

Step 4- Let Dry
Now let your clay dry! The back of the container says 2-3 days. I let mine dry for just under 2 days.
Step 5- Paint & Add Details
Time to paint! Paint the entire area white. I used basic white acrylic paint.

The paint dries really fast when applied to clay. When it’s dry add a cute face or whatever details you’d like for your clay ghost. There are endless possibilities!
I used Sharpies to draw the faces.

Add twine or ribbon and then you’re done! Aren’t these the cutest?!

Maybe when my baby is older and actually wants to participate in crafts, I’ll try this DIY Ghost ornament with his hand. š
Halloween Ghost Footprint Craft
This DIY ghost project came out adorable and I cannot wait to display them alongside our Halloween decor this year.

If you have a child who can hold a brush or marker well, you can let them take charge and make their own ghost faces.
My little guy is still little so I’m making these crafts for him now, but I’m definitely having fun. š
