What have I been doing lately? Barely working, it seems. And that’s okay.
I have hit a funk. I am slowly getting out of it, but it got to the point where I really couldn’t go into my art studio to work or create. This funk made me not want to touch my paints, create blog posts, or post anything.
It made me feel guilty, because of course I need to work! Right? Working makes me so happy. I’ve worked so hard on everything I’ve accomplished, and I look forward to working each day.

But this funk made me realize I AM HUMAN, and I deserve a break. If I want to work? Awesome! If I don’t want to work today? That’s fine too!
I, of course, still fulfilled any orders I got during this funk, but I just couldn’t really make anything new or do anything besides fulfilling orders, honestly lol.
This has made me grateful that I work for myself, so I can decide when I want to work. I’ve realized over the past few years that I do my best work if I’m 100000% into it. I cannot force myself to create if my heart isn’t in it.

I think a big struggle for many artists nowadays is the pressure to constantly “show up” on social media. That is something I deal with a lot, but I’m starting to not care as much. We are simply not robots.
Yesterday I started to paint a little, and it made me happy again, so I think I’m getting back to my old self, but I’m not pushing it.
Just before all this happened, I was working my tail off; I listed a bunch of mini watercolors in gold frames on my website, along with other watercolor originals.
My poor little blog has been neglected for about a month, but I hope to have the motivation to finish off the year strong with it.
If you’re reading this, it’s okay to take a break. We’re all human. Since becoming a mother, I’ve realized how important breaks are for our health.
Thanks to everyone who supports me and my little business. 🙂
