October has always been my favorite month. I love the beautiful autumn landscapes, pumpkins, Halloween, and the excitement of several more holidays around the corner.

I’m always inspired by the changing leaves and the gorgeous fall colors. After all, fall is the best season, right?
October Highlights
We were able to see the northern lights again this month! I’ve never seen them before but was able to see them briefly earlier this year and then again this month.

I had no idea they were happening and while I was taking my dogs out and looking at the moon, I thought the sky looked unique. Turns out it was the northern lights!
After I snapped some pics with my phone I went on Facebook and saw everyone was posting about them, so I was glad I caught them in time!

I consider myself a “natural light photographer” and that may make some photographers roll their eyes, but it’s just how I describe my photography. When taking photos, I love how natural light illuminates the subject and the unique shadows and highlights. It’s satisfying and exciting to me.
This month I was taking some product photos outside and had the whole gang with me. My dog Lucy was just sitting there and the lighting was perfect. So she got a mini photoshoot. š I absolutely love this photo of her!
Favorite Purchases
Wicked the movie comes out in November, so there have been a lot of collaborations with brands. While scrolling Facebook one day I saw that there were limited edition Wicked Stanley cups at Target. I decided to drag my husband and baby to the nearest one to see if they had any.

To my luck, there was ONE Elphaba cup left, (the one I wanted!), so I grabbed it and am in love with it.
Even the Target worker was surprised there was one left on the shelf. It’s my first Stanley Cup and am struggling with the decision of using it or keeping it in my Oz/Wicked collection. It’s so pretty!
Isn’t it the perfect cup for a Green Artist?! (I think I’m leaning toward using it..) š

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a favorite movie of mine and this Zero Squishmallow is precious. My little guy loves it!
Art I’ve Created
In October I was still creating some fall/Halloween-inspired artwork. I created this mixed-media painting and it was so much fun.

One of my favorite combos lately is creating a watercolor background, scanning it onto my computer, then importing it into Procreate on my iPad, and then drawing over it. Obsessed! š
I also started a new wood burning piece this month. Nowhere near done, but my life these days consists of starting a project and hoping to finish it within a few months haha. Here’s a preview:

October Posts
I post about twice a week on my blog. Some weeks it’s one post, some weeks I’m not able to post at all, but I always try for two posts. The mom/work life is hard lol.
But here are some of my top posts from October on the Green Artist Blog:
Hello November!
Happy November! This month I’m looking forward to seeing the Wicked Movie and decorating my house for Christmas.
Last year we started decorating November 1st, but now that my son is a crazy toddler who gets into everything, we have to make a game plan on how to decorate without him getting into all of it.
Thanks for reading my October 2024 recap! š
