April 2024 was a historic month!
April Highlights

Hands down the best highlight of this month was the total solar eclipse. I was in the path of totality, but the weather ruined it! It was clear later that day so that was a bit annoying lol.
Thankfully it was nicer at my parent’s house so they could get some photos. I was so disappointed because I was really looking forward to seeing it.
Though, I will admit it was cool just to experience how dark it got and then light again. That alone was amazing and gave me the chills, literally and physically!
It basically turned into night, the birds stopped chirping, the bugs started making sounds like they do at dusk, and it got colder. After totality, it almost seemed like someone was moving up a light switch because it got light again SO fast. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I’m thankful I got to at least experience the darkness.
As I mentioned in my past monthly recaps, I was making some art for the solar eclipse. I sold a bunch of my eclipse greeting cards for this special occasion! Super cool people were buying my art for a memento of the eclipse.

On April 1st, we celebrated Lucy Lou’s 8th birthday! Lucy was our first baby and she is dearly loved. We celebrated by making her a homemade whipped cream banana peanut butter dessert bowl. She loved it!

This is hands down the best time of year because nature is blooming. My favorite cherry blossom tree is blossoming as we speak, so my to-do list this week is to take some magical photos of the beautiful pink flowers!
If you’ve peeked at my art or around my blog, you’ve probably seen sunflower art or sunflowers somewhere. They are my favorite flowers and I love growing them every year.

I started my sunflower seeds the last week of April and am planting some new varieties. Every year I have tons of mammoth sunflowers that naturally come up from the previous flowers, but I try to grow some other kinds as well.

I prefer to start my sunflower seeds in containers before transplanting them into the ground. It’s what has worked best for me in past years!
Excited about this years sunflower season!
Art I’ve Created
I still am limited on how much art I can make since becoming a mother. Along with being a full-time mom, I’m also running my business. That leaves very little time to create which hurts my heart a little bit but that’s life right now.
Thank goodness for my iPad because I can easily draw on it without worrying about getting my paint or tools out to create.

Amid the craziness, I finished this drawing I’d been working on for a while. It’s inspired by a picture my brother took at his house the day after Halloween.
Even though we are currently in Spring, I am still drawn to creating winter art.
Hello May!
Looking forward to warmer spring days and plants blooming. Also hoping to set aside some more time to create.
