Hey everyone! In this post, I am going to go over 17 easy TikTok video ideas for artists.
If you’re an artist and not on TikTok, you should really consider joining it. It is a fast-growing social media platform that’s great to get your art out there.
Joining TikTok can be scary if you are used to other social media apps that consist mostly of photos, but it doesn’t have to be.
I’m going to cover easy TikTok video ideas that you can start doing now to grow your account. These are just 17 ideas, but video ideas for TikTok are endless.
I joined TikTok in 2020 and have seen great success from it over any other social media platform I’m on. Once you dive in to it, you will see how the engagement is so much better than any other social media app.
Let’s get into it! But first, make sure you are following me on TikTok to see what videos I create as an artist, creative, and business owner.
TikTok Video Ideas For Artists
You may be thinking, is TikTok good for artists? The answer is YES! TikTok is great for every profession and is growing daily. There are many creative video ideas for TikTok and you can also repurpose these videos to post on Instagram reels and Youtube shorts.
Below are 17 easy TikTok video ideas for artists.
1- A Time-lapse of You Working On a Piece
Easy. Set up your phone or camera and record yourself working on an art piece. Speed it up so people can watch the whole process within a minute or two.
2- Show The Tools You Use
I constantly get asked on TikTok about what wood burning tools I use and other art supplies. Show your audience what supplies you use and why. Many artists love to see what other artists use. It’s an educational video and makes great content.
3- Show a Before & After Transformation
Show a blank canvas and then the final piece. This is such an easy video idea! Users love to see the transformation and it also makes for a short video. Short videos do really well on TikTok.
4- Follow Trends
TikTok is known for its trends. Trends come and go so quickly, so make sure you are scrolling through your For You Page often to see what’s trending. By participating in a trend, you can get a lot of traffic to your account. Most trends can easily be relatable to the content you create.
5- Why You Create Your Art
Why are you an artist? Why do you create? Either talk into the camera explaining why you create your art or create a video of you working on an art piece and do a voice-over.
6- Introduce Yourself
Show the artist behind the account! This can be done by talking into the camera or doing a voice-over. You don’t have to show your face if you aren’t comfortable with it. I basically never show my face on TikTok. It’s a personal choice, and voiceovers work just as well.
7- Behind The Scenes At An Event Or An Art Show
Do you attend art shows or go to events where you sell or show off your art? Show a cute behind-the-scenes of you setting up or interacting with others. It makes great content!
8- Show How Far Youβve Come As An Artist
This is a cute idea and is sure to get laughs and comments. Show an early art piece of yours (could be elementary school art or something early in your career) and then show your latest work which shows how far you’ve come professionally. I love to see these videos!
9- A Tutorial
Do you knit, paint a certain way, wood burn, or make jewelry and people are asking how you do it? Create a simple tutorial on it. Tutorials do excellent on TikTok as they are educational videos.
10- Studio Tour
Show off your art studio! Even if you just have a small desk in the corner of your room or dorm, show the area where you work and create your art. Users love to see behind the scenes and the area where you create. It makes for easy content that can be created quickly. Easy, quick, and simple content is the best.
11- Show a Snippet Of An Art Piece Youβre Working On
As I mentioned earlier, short videos do well. Record a short clip of you working on a large piece. You don’t have to show off finished work in every video, and recording a small clip will get users interested to see the final piece. When you record small snippets, you can create a lot of easy content this way.
12- Promote a Sale On Your Website
Having a sale on your website or Etsy? Promote it! This can be done in many ways.
13- Tips On Starting An Art Business
Do you have any tips that you wish you would have known when you were starting out? Whether it be an art business tip or any sort of art tip, share your knowledge!
14- Day In The Life As An Artist Series
I love this idea. Either dedicate a week or longer to a day in the life series. Record content every day of what you do all day. You can show your morning routine, yourself working, or basically whatever you do all day as an artist. These are engaging and really fun videos to watch.
15- How Do You Get Your Inspiration
Where do you get your inspiration to create? Either show what inspires you or talk about it. Let your followers know what inspires you the most!
16- Show Work You Have For Sale
Show off available art for sale! Whether it be art prints, cards, original paintings, etc, make a video where you show off all available work. This is a great TikTok video idea for artists as you may reach users who love your style and want to purchase your artwork.
17- Tips To Stay Motivated
Do you have any tips on how to stay motivated as an artist? I personally love when other artists share tips like this as it helps and I may not have thought of it. It’s nice to share tips like this when we are in a creative block and need a push.
18- (bonus!) Answer Comment Questions
Did you know you can respond to comments on your videos with a video reply? This is a great and easy way to create content. For example, if someone asked “what paint do you use?” instead of just answering “Winsor & Newton” show them your paints in real-time with a video. You can also maybe point out some of your favorite colors or other brands you use. By creating videos, you are more likely to get followers, likes, and be noticed. If you just simply reply to a comment, new users aren’t going to find you. You can really make content out of anything and if a comment can be answered with a video, do it!
This post was all about TikTok video ideas for artists.
If you aren’t on TikTok yet and you’re an artist, I really hope you give it a try! As I mentioned, it can be scary at first but once you are on the app and creating, it will become second nature to you. There are endless possibilities on TikTok and every artist can gain something from the platform.
