I had an idea last night while I was working- to do a 100-day watercolor landscape painting challenge and post about it on social media and my blog.

I almost paint every day anyway, but this challenge is to complete one full painting a day and share the painting/process!

100 Day Watercolor Landscape Challenge

One of my goals for the new year is to be more active on my social media accounts so I feel this challenge will help me start on a good foot for the new year.

I mean why not try? Who needs sleep anyway? (jk – kinda..)

So this is my official post saying I’m doing a 100-day watercolor landscape challenge. Let’s see where it goes. If I fail I fail, but I’ll at least try.

These will be watercolor paintings, but I love mixed media, so soft pastel/oil pastels will definitely show up here and there. 🙂

Here’s day 1/100

5×7″ watercolor and soft pastel painting

I added some soft pastel details at the end for the moon and a few highlights. Layering pastels over watercolor is one of my favorite things to do. I love texture and it just makes the painting so much more interesting.

I’ll be sharing the paintings daily on my Instagram stories, but I think I’ll recap the weeks here on my blog because daily would be way too much.

I won’t be making videos every day but will share a photo of the final piece each day.

Follow me on Instagram!

I’m thinking of selling some of the paintings, too, but we’ll see. I’m sure I won’t always be able to do a 5×7″ painting, so smaller sizes will definitely appear some days. I’m not worrying about sticking to a specific size for this challenge, just as long as I paint a landscape. Some days will probably be really simple paintings, and that’s okay! I just want to paint SOMETHING every day.

One of my goals for 2025 is to create a calendar for 2026, so this challenge is a great way to make some interesting paintings for it!

Looking forward to this challenge and I can’t wait to flip through all the paintings at the end. Stay tuned for more 🙂
